Get Involved - Public

Four Ways to Become Involved

BEST Robotics is truly a community-wide project that requires commitment and support from, and a connection with, business and industry and local civic organizations. Key needs include volunteer workers, financial support, and technical support. Please consider becoming involved in one or more of these key areas:
1.  Volunteer
The competition takes place over a six-week period each Fall. Volunteers are needed during and leading up to that six-week competition season to:
· Staff registration desks
· Serve as a referee or judge
· Serve food and refreshments
We need help, and lots of it! Please consider volunteering to be a part of the BEST program in our community.

2.  Donate
BEST is unique in that BEST hubs provide participating schools with all the materials necessary to compete. Robot kits and control systems are issued to schools each year and turned in to be reissued in subsequent years. The hub must pay entry fees for teams that advance to the regional competition.
Additional funds are needed as we grow the program to allow additional students and schools to participate. Please consider a financial contribution to help support the development and maintenance of the BEST hub in your community.
Checks may be made to Friends of Northeast Alabama BEST Robotics and mailed to:

3.  Mentor
Do you have specific technical skills that would be helpful in guiding students as they work through the engineering process and build their robot? If so, consider applying to become a mentor. For more information, contact Ronny Kisor of the Alabama Technology Network office in Rainsville.

4.  Sponsor
Businesses, civic organizations, professional associations, individuals and others are encouraged to become a sponsor for the BEST Robotics program in your community. Sponsorships may consist of cash and/or in-kind contributions. This is a great way to get recognition for your company while supporting a program that will reap dividends for years to come.
