Kick Off Day Plans Announced!

Northeast Alabama BEST Robotics has announced plans for its Kick Off day. The event will take place in the Tom Bevill Lyceum on the campus of Northeast Alabama Community College. Registration will begin at 8:30 am. Doors to the theatre will open at 8:45. All teams should be registered and in their seats by 8:55 am.

At 9:00 am we will have the opening session and kick off, followed by a general session in the lyceum that will cover the following:

• Game Explanation & Scoring
• Organizing Your Team
• 42 Days of BEST
• BEST Award Rules & Scoring

Lunch will be provided for all participants.

Breakout sessions, which include field viewing and kit pick up will take place at 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm. We expect to be finished by 2:00 pm.

There is much to do in preparation for kick off day but we look forward to sharing another 42 days with all of our teams as we kick off GATEKEEER_2013!

Kick Off is One Month Away

Northeast Alabama BEST Robotics will kick off the 2013 season one month from today. The Kick Off event will be held in the Tom Bevill Lyceum on the Northeast Alabama Community College campus on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Registration will begin at 8:00 am. All participants should be seated and ready to kick off by 8:25 am.

The schedule will be released soon, but expect to be here from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm. Lunch will be provided.

What can you do to be ready?

• Think about key roles with your team. Who will do what? Plan to attend training sessions relevant to your role.
• Brush up on your programming skills. There are a number of resources available at the BEST, Inc. website.
• Review last year's 42 Days of BEST. Start to plan your calendar accordingly. The 2013 42 Days of BEST calendar will be posted soon.
• Review last year's presentations at this site. Click on Team Resources in the menu bar.
• Mark relevant BEST 2013 dates on your calendar:
• September 21 - Kick Off
• October 24 - Practice Day
• November 2 - Game Day

2013 BEST Robotics Dates Set

After adjusting for BEST Robotics, Inc. criteria and venue availability, we are ready to lock in and announce the 2013 Northeast Alabama BEST Robotics dates and locations:

• Kick Off Day - Saturday, September 21, 2013 at NACC's Tom Bevill Lyceum
• Practice Day - Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Northeast Alabama Agri-Business Center (co-located with Made in DeKalb Expo)
• Game Day - Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Northeast Alabama Agri-Business Center

BEST 2012 is Underway!

Students, teachers, and mentors from 10 schools gathered at the Tom Bevill Lyceum on the Northeast Alabama Community College campus today to kick off the 2012 BEST season. Photos and videos will be posted in the coming days, but here is a quick look at the excitement generated by this year's Kick Off.

Easy C Workshop - Bring a laptop loaded with EasyC if you would like to participate in the EasyC workshop.

Soldering Workshop - Bring your own soldering iron and solder.

Returnable Kits Prepared

Here's a sneak peek at one of our returnable kits. Each team will receive one of these, as well as all the consumable supplies, on Kick Off Day. It's just over a week away, and we are excited and preparing for a fun-filled Kick Off.

Teams should be sure that they sign up on Robot Events. We only have 12 slots  available for this year; registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have not yet signed up on Robot Events, please do so and contact Nicole Carroll to assure that your registration has been received.
